so basically what she is saying is.. you can treat it like garbage and it’ll be alright?

Not to be a know it all, but you should not leave it in direct sunlight. Truth is the death rate of bamboo is 3%, 3 out of 100 that don’t make it, but if it’s part of the 97% it will grow in just water.

Seriously, she’s right. Lucky bamboo is extremely resilient. I have one that I put in a coke bottle about three years ago, and I’ve only watered it for about every month or so, since it doesn’t need it a lot.

Or just boiling water. Lots and lots of it.
It kills ivy and nettles, so why not bamboo? Otherwise, I have cats, and they love to chew it.

lucky bamboo is poisonous for cats!

It is? They seem to be all right anyway, though they don’t really do it much. Thanks for the heads-up, though. I’ll be sure to put it away.

lol that plant has been destroyed by you proving your point that it can withstand anything you throw at it. If you kept it out of direct light… and were gentle with it… the leaves would grow fuller and you wouldn’t have so much brown. p.s. – use distilled water. =)

Never put lucky bamboo in direct sun, it will burn the leaves. Bright, indirect light is best.

This woman is such a fool, she doesn’t know a single thing about gardening.
She has a million videos talking about plants that she doesn’t even have in front of her, and even when she has the right plant she’s misinforming everyone.
These videos do more harm than good, IMO.

She sounds like she’s guessing and making this stuff up!!!

direct sunlight will kill it.

No. It will die. I had a lucky bamboo plant that was kept in a shaded room away from the windowsill. It died within a year. I waited too long to move it into a sunlit area. The lucky bamboo I have on a windowsill has been there a year and is very healthy. It is not in direct sunlight the entire day.
