    Definitively, use the compass directions. Using the entry is a method very diffused for its easiness of comprehension, but it makes no sense. Feng Shui uses the energy and each direction has its own one. The career sector, for example, is associated to the water element. But if you doesn’t use the compass directions and your career sector is in the South, fire element, imagine what will happen if you put water (and the right element is fire!).

    This is the easiest explanation to understand why the main door method is not correct. I know there are a lot of books using that method, but if you have a look at serious practitioners’ website, you will see that Feng Shui is much more than that.

    ok i dont really go by fengshui as most books that it has a prosperity corner, and all that. i go by what i had learned under some fengshui masters/ practitioners.

    first, you must not use the bagua (the octagon shaped wood with a mirror at the middle) inside the house.

    some books mean to put a bagua inside the house is to make the furnitures shape like an octagon. i do not really know how this would make the living room more productive or conducive to living.

    next, going back to the bagua thing, which is a fengshui tool to ward off bad chi or energy. always put this outside the house towards the sha or bad chi like a electric post or sharp corner or building, that is affecting your house.

    fengshui is all about the compass or the luo pan, which most practitioners use to measure.

    there are many methods of chinese fengshui and none involve clearing the clutter or dividing the house into corners (prosperity, romance, etc.). some methods are flying stars (eva wong has wrote a book about this, available at amazon), 8 mansions (lillian too wrote many books about this), water placements, etc. you also need to know that most books like what ms. too and ms. wong wrote do explain the basics of the method, but both do not explain the secret uses or advanced uses of the method. for that i recommend that you find a good teacher or practitioner to teach you.
