a bagua mirror is usually placed outside the house facing a sha or bad chi.

what are sources of bad chi?
- a light post,
- electrical post, transformers,
- a big tree that is near the house,
- your house is right in the junction of a T-junction,
- an old cracked building
- a fast flowing traffic
- a very noisy traffic
- a big (and taller than your house) building, esp in front of the house

there are 3 kinds of mirrors that go with the bagua. the most common is the plain mirror or flat - this is to reflect whatever it faces. then there is the convexed, which is use to reflect and disperse the bad chi; this is better than the flat mirror. the third is the convexed mirror, which is used to attract or absorb whatever good chi you have in front of the bagua.

sources of good chi are:
- good business from a bustling market/ flea market
- a slow moving traffic (but not noisy)
- a parking lot (yes, a parking lot, esp one with many cars is auspicious to live near)
- an open big space/ park that is well lit
