Feng Shui is not as simple as the Ba Gua chart makes it out to be. In fact, in classic Feng Shui, which has been around for well over 4,000 years, there is no mentioned of a Ba Gua chart. The Ba Gua chart method was developed by Professor Lin Yun in Northern California about only 30 years.

Since it has only been around for about 30 years, most Feng Shui practitioners do not feel it is a "proven" method and do not advocate its use. However, due its simplicity in application, it has been well recieved here in the Western world. As to wheter it yields proper result, there are many debates about it.

I am an advocate of the classic methods where we use the Feng Shui compass, Luo Pan, to take a compass reading of your property. Using the year the property was built and the compass reading we can chart a Flying Star chart for the home. The Flying Star chart will give pretty accurate look at what has happened in the property and what is likely to happen in the future. This type of Feng Shui analysis is more accurate and yield results.

However, if you like to use the Ba Gua chart method, you would position the Ba Gua chart according to the door of the property or room. Therefore, the door is usually located in the Career, Travel, or Knowledge/Wisdom area. By using this method, what the practitioner is saying that every home is basically the same.

In an attempt to combine the Ba Gua chart with the Compass school of Feng Shui, a few practitioner introduce the Ba Gua chart with the compass directions. Therefore, the Career area would be in the North, Fame area in the South, Family in the East, Children in the West, Love in the Southwest, Wealth in the Southeast, Travel in the Northwest, Knowledge in the Northeast, and Health in the Center.

So there is basically two ways to apply the Ba Gua chart, using the compass direction or just using the door as the starting point. Which one is right? Since these two methods have not been validated by traditional Feng Shui practitioners, no one can say.

It doesn't hurt to give things a new try, but pay close attention to what is happening to you. If you see positive result using the Ba Gua chart method then good for you. If you do not see result, you might invest more time in learning classic or traditional Feng Shui methods.

Good luck.

chinese fengshui is not about that bagua chart - think about it. which ever location or direction you put the bathroom or toilet, it harms that aspect of your life. so where do you put the bathroom? have you seen a well fengshui'd house with no bathroom? i do think that is the most ridiculouse method i ever seen.

in chinese fengshui, the bathroom and the kitchen can play a big role in attracting money into your life. there is actually a special method for placing the toilet bowl, so whenever you flush, the more money goes into your life. same goes with the kitchen or stove.

it is just there are very few published books that is about chinese fengshui, and you don't find good fengshui info in the internet either. you just need to learn them from someone who knows or a from a fengshui master who offers lessons.
